Approval tiers for AI copilot actions
How we built ChessCore, an AI-native platform for running a chess academy.
The challenge
Chess academies were running on a pile of disconnected tools.
A typical academy juggled a landing page for leads, a spreadsheet for the funnel, WhatsApp for follow-up, a calendar for classes, a separate attendance sheet, payment links sent by hand and a chess site open in another tab for ratings.
The marketing domain was brand new, and an early audit found an internal-link mesh that had never rendered and canonical URLs that pointed at an auto-generated host.
The approach
One system for the whole academy, with a person in the loop on anything that moves money.
ChessCore is a multi-tenant web app built on Next.js, tRPC and Postgres with row-level tenant isolation. It covers enrollment and batches, scheduling and attendance, billing with UPI AutoPay and Stripe, a leads CRM, parent updates, Swiss tournaments, live video classes, and chess training with puzzles, studies and game analysis.
The AI copilot has three risk tiers. Write actions need one click from staff, while refunds, marking invoices paid and messages to parents need a second approver, and nobody can approve their own request.
Every public claim on chesscore.io is tied to the product’s code through a facts register, and the build fails when the copy drifts from it. We fixed the link mesh and canonicals at the source, and made an 81-second launch film in HyperFrames, cut for 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16.

ChessCore is live, with a 210-page marketing site and native apps in development.
